Damn. Today is officially 10 months since our logged-in date in China. (July 8, 2005) Each month that goes by finds us a little more defeated and a little bit grumpier to people who ask, "How's the adoption going?"!
So the dh and I decided last month that we were going to hit this anniversary with zest. No moping around, no sad long faces, no snippy comments. We had decided to celebrate how much closer we are to meeting our daughter. We even talked about having a party! That's right. Party hats, grilled burgers, and adult beverages (since our nights of that kind of behavior should be dwindling)! We discussed who to invite, when to have the event, and we even came up with some party games to play.
Only one problem... we forgot to actually follow through with any of the plans! That's us alright. Party in the mind and spirit, but actually going through with something, well that's pushing your luck! So no Pin the Baby on the Referral Date, no turkey burgers with citrus salsa, and definitely no festive party favors.
We missed the party! Damn.
Maybe next month...
