Yesterday we went to the Hefei Children's Welfare Institute. We were very apprehensive about visiting and taking Ty back. We were unsure how she would react to seeing the familiar surroundings and then being taken away again. We were wrong to worry. Ty was happy to see her friends and caregivers. And the caregivers where very happy to see her. The were saying Yueman, Yueman and waving to get her attention. They knew how to make her smile.
The DH and I were so touched to see this interaction. It meant so much to see first-hand how much they loved her and cared for her during the first 13 months of her life. We were able to see her bed and where she played. It was all new to us, but seemed so familiar after seeing so many pictures at home. It was nowhere near the standards of the US, but the warmth and the care was evident everywhere. All the walls had child friendly characters painted on them and the people, the caregivers, were everywhere, smiling and playing with the children. We got to see a puppet show out in the playground area. Even the children inside were in the windows with their caregivers watching the fun.
All the children seemed so happy. One of the families brought candy and we got to give it to a group of special needs kids. I included a picture below of some of them sitting on the curb eating their treats. It was a fun experience. We would have loaded the taxi up with children to take home if it was an option. We are very lucky Ty was cared for in such a place.

To celebrate our successful trip all the families decided a trip to McDonald's was in order. Besides, most of us had not had a fulfilling meal yet. (DH is having no issues - he's loved everything! Although I did hear him comment that he needed some hot sauce.) Ty had her first french fry and a few bites of a plain hamburger. That's my girl!

Y'all are doing such a good job posting your experiences and pictures of your days in China. We know you are busy and full of joy with Tyler. There are a group of ladies at work following your travels as well. They tell me everyday how precious Tyler is and they want to meet her too! Tyler has a growing fan club!
It's so great that you got to see that, and that it was so positive. I hope we get to, when it's our turn... Congrats again!
Sounds like nothing has changed at the Hefei SWI!! The nannies took me back a bit when we visited. They were all "shouting" when they saw Nian.
It looks as if Tyler is adjusting fabulously!! She is precious and what a precious gift you have recieved!
Many Blessings,
Paula
I am so proud and happy for you guys. Tyler seems like a really well adjusted and nurtured little girl. She is so blessed to have parents like you two. I know you will have the time of your lives with her. I can't wait to check in each day to see what's new. Thank you guys so much for sharing this experience with us all. It sounds like you are having a great time visiting China as well.
Love you guys!
